Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali on Saturday said if Kulbushan Jadhav was not apprehended on time, he would have carried out more terrorist activities in Pakistan.

“If we had not arrested him on time, he would have carried more activities against the country,” Nisar said while addressing a passing-out parade of FC troops in Islamabad.

The interior minister said the self-confessed Indian spy was involved in terrorism across the country and “there is no confusion about this”. “Jadhav has been sentenced according to the constitution of Pakistan because he was arrested in the country and was involved in anti-state activities,” Nisar said.

Nisar further said certain elements are being paid by hostile forces to spread unrest in Pakistan. "A handful of terrorists kill innocent people after distorting the teachings of Islam," he said.

Speaking about Pakistan's relations with Afghanistan and Iran, the interior minister said Pakistan wants cordial relations with all neighbouring countries and for that matter he will visit Iran to resolve the due issues.

Regading Afghanistan, Nisar said, hearts of people of both countries beat together but Pakistan will never allow it to speak the language of India.

ICJ stays Jadhav’s hanging till it makes final ruling

Dispelling rumours that Pakistan had agreed on the jurisdiction of International Court of Justice (ICJ) which can hamper Jadhav’s execution, Nisar said it was a baseless claim and people should not create a divide by spreading this false impression.

Jadhav was arrested in a counter-intelligence raid in Mashkel, Balochistan in March 2016. In a video confession released soon after, he confessed to being assigned by India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to plan, coordinate and organise espionage and sabotage activities in Balochistan and Karachi with an aim to destabilise and wage war against Pakistan. He was convicted last month by a military court and sentenced to death.

However, the United Nations’ top court recently ordered a stay in the execution of Jadhav. Judges at the ICJ ruled that Jadhav must not be put to death by Islamabad until they have had time to pass final judgement in the case.
