Spurious drugs confiscated from Sheikhupura factory
Drug Pharma Pvt Ltd was manufacturing paracetamol illegally, says minister
LAHORE:
Authorities in Punjab confiscated on Friday a large quantity of spurious drugs being manufactured in a local factory.
The 'illegally' manufactured drugs were seized during a raid conducted by Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health, Khawaja Imran Nazir, along with a squad of provincial drug inspectors at Drug Pharma Pvt Ltd on Sheikhupura Road.
“The factory was already sealed and its manufacturing license had been suspended... still the owners continued to produce medicines in the night,” Nazir, who is also the chairman of chief minister’s taskforce on spurious and substandard drugs, told The Express Tribune.

“The drug inspector squad of the primary and secondary health department raided the factory on a tip-off and caught two suspects besides recovering a huge quantity of paracetamol tablets and syrup,” he added.
The minister added that a case was registered against two suspects and the factory owners.
“Manufacturing of medicines without license is a violation of the law and strict action will be taken against the culprits,” he maintained.
Indicating that CM Shahbaz Sharif had issued clear instructions to eradicate illegal businesses of substandard and unregistered medicine from the province, the minister said crackdown will continue.
