Walt Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger has revealed that hackers claimed to have access to an unnamed upcoming movie and have demanded ransom, the Hollywood Reporter said on Monday.

Iger made the comments during a town hall meeting with ABC employees in New York City, the Hollywood Reporter said citing multiple sources.

The hackers have demanded that a huge sum be paid on Bitcoin, but Disney has refused to pay, the publication added.

Although Disney has not revealed which upcoming movie hackers are holding for ransom, Deadline reports it is the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise scheduled for release on May 26.

Hacker are now threatening to release bits of the film in increments if their demands aren’t met.

A similar issue was faced by Netflix earlier when hackers spilled out 10 episodes of the next season of Orange Is The New Black when the company also refused to pay.

A leak of the movie prior to its release could be a major blow for Disney as the company has reportedly spent over $300 million on making the blockbuster.
