ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said Muslims are victims of terrorism in the world.

Addressing a public gathering in Chakri, Rawalpindi on Saturday, Nisar said terrorism and extremism have no links with Islam.

Reiterating his resolve to protect national interest at every level, he blamed the politics of agitation for trying to halt development process in the country.

The minister criticised what he called the politics of baseless allegations and false claims. He lashed out at political opponents, saying they had been rejected by people for harming democracy.

“Development schemes worth billions of rupees initiated during the last four years are a testimony to the government's commitment to the well-being of the masses,” said Nisar.

“Change does not come by chanting slogans”, but by doing development work, he said. “Those who made new records in corruption are now standing with the people, sloganeering about bringing change in the country,” he stated.

Nisar also addressed public gatherings in Rawat, Khasala, Chontra and other areas, during which he said a few people were trying to create sensation and panic in the country through negative politics.

Describing ‘this type of politics’ as ‘lethal to the norms of democracy’, he said that for strengthening Pakistan, politics of patience and seriousness should be adopted.

He dispelled the notion that the politicians misguiding people and selling empty mottos have a future in the field of politics. He also warned the people about ‘the tactics of such politicians’ in the general election 2018, claiming that they would try to attract them by selling false claims.

“People should unveil the true face of these elements,” he said, adding that they have nothing to give to the people other than changing parties and offering empty lucrative promises.

He was of the view that decisions are taken in parliament -- and not on streets and squares.
