Maid commits ‘suicide’

Police suspect that she took her life by consuming some poisonous substance

LAHORE: A 24-year-old woman, identified as Muniza, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a house in Model Town on Friday night.

The deceased was a resident of Vehari and worked at the house as a maid. Police suspected that she took her life by consuming some poisonous substance.

A mobile phone was found near her body and she spoke to someone before taking her life, they added. The body was handed over to her family after completing legal formalities.

An FIR has been registered in the case and two members of the employers’ family were taken into custody.

Police said they were investigating the matter from all angles and trying to establish whether the young woman had committed suicide or was murdered via poisoning.

The cops added that the family of the deceased was not interested in conducting an autopsy of the body.
