We are not exactly a salad loving nation. However, a salad movement seems to be underway right now. And because summer and salad go hand in hand, some truly great salads are on the menu at various eateries around Karachi.

If you’re not a fan of tiny portions and leafy bowls that leave you hungry, fret not. While they are undeniably a vital constituent of a salad, there’s a lot more to salads than just leaves. Here’s a list of some of the most scrumptious salads around town that are hearty enough to replace a meal and tempt you to go back for more.

Fried feta and barley salad at Mews



Barley is just a wonderful grain for salads. It’s chewy and goes beautifully with vinaigrette. Add warm fried feta, sliced oranges and herbs to the grain and you have a salad you will love. This might become your favourite at Mews.

The quinoa and cranberry salad at Xander’s



Quinoa has double the protein found in rice and barley and is an excellent source of calcium. Made with quinoa, rocket leaves cranberries, herbs and roasted cherry tomatoes the Xander’s salad is exquisitely rounded off with lemon & olive oil vinaigrette.

Parvez | 6 years ago | Reply All the places listed are very up market ...... some 35 years ago you could go to the Marco Polo in the Intercontinental Hotel at lunch time and get a brilliant salad along with soup FOR Rs.50/- ....... sounds unbelievable but its true.
