
Test-fired at around 10:22am at Dr Abdul Kalam Island, the two-stage solid propelled ballistic missile can carry a payload of 1,000kg over a distance of over 2,000 km.
The test came a day after India test-fired Brahmos land-attack missile for the second consecutive day, according to the Hindustan Times.
