ISLAMABAD: Sheikhoo Power (Private) Limited has filed an application with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) seeking power generation licence for its 30-megawatt bagasse-based plant.

According to sources, the project will be set up in Anwarabad in Muzaffargarh district. The company intends to sell the electric power generated from the plant to the Multan Electric Power Company.

The project will cost $34.89 million and its expected commercial operation date is September 30, 2018. The plant will be based on bagasse as the sole fuel, which will be fed into high-pressure boilers for producing steam and generating electricity.

The electricity will be partly consumed to meet the requirement of the related sugar mill while the remaining will be sold to the national grid.
