Latif wants Azam removed from his hearing

Feels Vigilance and Security Department General Manager is biased against him

KARACHI: Suspended cricketer Khalid Latif has agreed to appear before the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) Vigilance and Security Department on May 2 but on the condition that the body's Senior General Manager Col (r) Azam Khan disassociates himself from his case.

Latif, in a letter sent to the PCB last week, had accused Azam of twisting the facts in a notice of demand and refused to attend the May 2 hearing.

In reply, the PCB quashed Latif's misgivings, terming them as 'frivolous, baseless, and false' before summoning the under-fire cricketer once again.

Latif has since sent a fresh letter to Azam, agreeing to oblige to PCB's orders but only if his concerns about the fairness of the investigation are alleviated.

“It appears that you [Azam] misrepresented the facts to the honourable PCB chairman as you stated in the second notice of demand that I have reservations regarding the entire Anti-Corruption Unit instead of just you. Had the chairman known this, I am sure he would have stopped you from partaking in this investigation,” wrote Latif.

"Since I have no trust in you acting as an investigating officer, I hope you will not be present during my hearing. And if you do, it will be a mala fide act on your part and I will protest," he added.
