PESHAWAR: Amid constant threats of a possible attack on Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA), the airport management held a full-scale mock security exercise at the facility.
Civil Aviation Authority contacted the airport administration after receiving threats of a potential attack. Officials said the airport was surrounded by armed forces but they wanted to be prepared.
The officials said it was for the first time that a passenger plane was evacuated after it caught fire and the injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital and Combined Military Hospital.

“This was an exercise for 150 passengers onboard and it took some 12 minutes to respond and shift the first injured person to the LRH,” BKIA acting manager Obaid Abbasi told The Express Tribune.
The airport security force, armed forces, hospital employees, police, Rescue 1122 and air force participated in the mock exercise.
