Bilal, his wife Reema and friend Waqar were found guilty of kidnapping an eight-year-old girl and later killing her.
According to the prosecution, the child was Reema's cousin. Reema, in collusion with her husband and his friend, kidnapped the girl from her school in Azizabad.
The prosecution maintained during the trial that the accused had demanded Rs1 million from the girl's family and, over non-payment, killed her.

The defence on the other hand stated that the accused were not involved in the offence and were falsely implicated in the case for ulterior motives.
The judge, pronouncing the verdict, observed that the prosecution successfully established its case against the accused beyond any shadow of doubt.
Capital punishment to the couple is subject to endorsement by the Sindh High Court as per court procedure.
