The gorgeous socialite and savvy style-star welcomes us into her home and takes us on a tour of her favourite space — her uber cool home theatre!

Zahra Abbas Jameel’s home is a beautiful sanctuary on a bustling Karachi street. Her lush green garden featuring flora and fauna in all shapes, sizes and colours, greet us before we enter the picturesque home. We enter through an intricately detailed large wooden and glass door. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow us to admire the magnificent garden and serene pool area as we walk over to Jameel’s favourite space — her home theatre. Our graceful host warmly greets us, insisting on some refreshments as we sit down to discuss her truly remarkable corner.

Living in a house so beautiful, one might have a difficult time choosing their favourite spot, however, Jameel articulately answers: “Well, this is my favourite area as it is a home away from home for me. My children don’t come here and I feel this space is totally detached from the rest of the house. It’s my comfort zone.” The home theatre mostly uses shades of chocolate brown and warm taupe, however vibrant accents can be seen in the abstract artwork around the room. What truly stuns us is the magnificent view of the large pool through a floor-to-ceiling window. This view brings the whole room together, adding light, colour, landscape and splendour.

The dimly lit space is kept in pristine condition, the leather sofas are both comfortable and in stylistic harmony with the calming ambience. A large TV occupies the wall in front of us, underneath which model cars are artfully placed on a wooden built-in unit. A grey and white throw blanket is perfectly draped on a white leather sofa, in front of which a glass and dark-metal coffee table is positioned. Candles, coffee table books and vibrant décor pieces on the coffee table add colour to the room, which rests underneath an intricate beige rug. These small details add a sense of warmth to the area, as they indicate Jameel and her family’s interests and style. Seeing how impeccably everything is placed, we ask our host how often this room is used. She chuckles: “Actually I use this room pretty much everyday! I’ll watch a movie, browse on my laptop or just read a good book. It’s just such a comfortable spot.”

Jameel shares that while she has created countless memories in the home theatre, her favourite item in this room happens to be one of the model cars. “It’s actually my Bugatti Chiron piece which I bought at the Geneva Motor Show. Though I think my husband would say his favourite piece is his painting,” she states. Wondering how big a part Jameel was in putting this marvellous space together, we pose the question: “Well, Yoca did the interiors for the area, but my husband and I did all the furniture. We were pretty hands on!” she explains.

As we begin to make our way out, we take one final look around the home theatre. This is a space, which is both glorious in it’s aesthetic and calming in its mood. Jameel strikes the perfect balance in her favourite corner and we leave impressed by her ability to do so in such an effortless manner.
