Five militants killed in search operation: DC Kech

The dead militants are believed to be involved in an attack on FC personnel earlier this week

QUETTA: The bodies of five militants believed to be involved in an attack on Frontier Corps personnel last week were found in Balochistan’s Kech district, on Thursday.

Sources within Balochistan Levies said the bullet-riddled bodies were fished out from a narrow river in Mand tehsil of Kech near the Pak-Iran border.

According to Kech Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Ali Khan, following an attack on FC personnel earlier this week, security forces launched a search operation in the area on late Wednesday night. “Five militants involved in the attack were killed during the intelligence-based operation,” he said.

Four FC men killed in Kech blast

The deceased were shifted to Mand Hospital and identified as Tump residents, Jasim, and Master Baitullah Mehmood and his son Ahmed as well as Mand residents, Noroz and Asif.

According the deceased men’s families, Baituallah had been missing for the past two years, his son Ahmed since last year and Jasim had been missing for the past six months.

On Sunday, a remote-controlled roadside bomb exploded near an FC convoy in Mand, killing four FC personnel and a civilian.

The deceased security officials were identified as Rehmat Shah, Munir Ahmed, Salahuddin and Rehmatullah. The name of the civilian could not be ascertained.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack.
