Cylinder explosion kills one, injures seven in Hyderabad
Blast occurred in a commercial area near Qazi Qayum Road, say sources
HYDERABAD:
A cylinder of oxygen gas exploded in a shop on Qazi Qayum Road in Hyderabad on Thursday, killing one man and injuring at least seven. The blast spread panic in the locality which is a commercial area near the Railway Station.
The injured were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital. They were identified as Moshin Shafi Muhammad, 12, Kashif Ali, 16, Siraj Ayaz, 22, Muhammad Yaseen, 30, Mohammed Aman Khan, 35, Ismail Quarshi, 35, and Arif Sajid, 40. Ali Hassan Abbasi.
A 16-year-old teenager, Ali Hassan Abbasi, who worked at the shop succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of the explosion could not be immediately ascertained. The police cordoned off the area for over an hour and the movement of traffic was re-routed through alternate roads, resulting in traffic logjams.
The shop’s name was Amanullah Traders, which was owned by Aman Khan, one of the injured. He is said to be in a critical condition.
According to Makki Shah SHO Imran Afridi, the explosion happened while filling an oxygen cylinder. The incident's FIR has not been lodged so far.
