Karandaaz Pakistan announces Fintech Disrupt Challenge for start-ups to win $100,000

The Karandaaz Pakistan in collaboration with the IBA AMAN Centre for Entrepreneurial Development has announced its 2017 Fintech Disrupt Challenge (FDC) that will give Pakistan's start-ups a chance to showcase their ideas in an attempt to win as much as $100,000 in funding.

The annual competition invites the most innovative ideas from all over country in the field of financial technology space and aims to support high growth potential and innovative financial technology solutions in the areas of digital payments, access to financial services, e-commerce and interoperability solutions to enable greater financial.

“We are pleased to announce the 2nd instalment of our FinTech Disrupt Challenge collaboratively with IBA AMAN CED as our venue partner,” said Rehan Akhtar, the Karandaaz Pakistan's director of digital financial services. “We encourage young FinTech start-ups with limited financial assets from across Pakistan to apply and pitch their innovative ideas that carry the potential to revolutionise the country’s financial landscape. As is the tradition at Karandaaz, solutions that cater to women’s financial inclusion are highly encouraged for the #FDC2017,” he added.

Karandaaz Pakistan joins hands with Techlogix

Start-ups from the five thematic areas can pitch their ideas on the basis of which two grants of up to $100,000 and five grants of up to $20,000 will be given to the start-ups that have a high growth potential and ground-breaking financial technology solutions. Ideas that focus on greater access of women to financial services are especially encouraged submit their projects.

Applications for FDC 2017 can now be submitted online latest by May 9, 2017. Shortlisted applicants will pitch their ideas on the Day of the Challenge on May 20, 2017. Aspirants can also visit Karadaaz Pakistan’s term sheet for more information on the eligibility criteria.
