6 Bollywood stars who weren't born in India

Yes, Deepika Padukone made the list too!

Bollywood takes huge pride in some of the stars who have made it big worldwide.

From the likes of Deepika Padukone, who has made her presence felt in her Hollywood debut, xXx: Return of the Xander's Cage, opposite Vin Diesel, to Katrina Kaif, for endorsing various international brands, many Bollywood A-listers are internationally recognised.

But did you know, that many of the most loved superstars aren't technically Indian?

According to Yahoo! India, here are seven 'Bollywood' stars with foreign citizenship.

1. Deepika Padukone

The Bajirao Mastani star was actually born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on January 5th 1986. Therefore she restricted to the rights of a natural born-Indian.

2. Katrina Kaif

It's no secret that Katrina Kaif wasn't born in India. When the Jagga Jasoos star stepped in Bollywood, it was evident that she had difficulty donning an Indian accent in the movies, therefore her early movies were usually dubbed. Even after spending over a decade working in the Indian film industry, the Dhoom actor has neither adopted the country’s citizenship, nor learned the language. Katrina still holds a UK passport.

5. Alia Bhatt

The Student of the Year actor was seen participating actively in 2014 Indian election, and even urged her fandom to vote. But unfortunately, Alia could not exercise the right to vote as she is a British born.

6. Imran Khan

Unfortunately, just like Alia Bhatt, Aamir Khan’s nephew too is restricted from voting. The Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na star was born in Wisconsin, USA but moved to India following his parent’s divorce.

















7. Nargis Fakhri

The Rockstar actor is true to her roots and  her ethnicity. The half Pakistani-half Czech actor is an American citizen.
