SC asked to save education ministry

The devolution of Ministry of Education to the provinces has already been challenged in the Supreme Court. The case was adjourned till an indefinite period after initial hearing on Monday.


The petitioners have submitted that transferring the education system to the provinces will cause a disintegration of the federation, as each province will introduce its own education system in the regional language, which would have far-reaching impacts.



HEC officials fear that agreements with international donors and careers of over 5,000 students presently studying at different foreign universities will be at stake if the financial matters of HEC are shifted to the provinces under the 18th Amendment.
