Doctors reject Health Ministry body

YDA expresses complete dissatisfaction on committee members and refuses negotiations.

ISLAMABAD:

The Ministry of Health has constituted a five member committee including Additional Secretary Khalid Hanif, Joint Secretary Sohail Saqlain, Hospitals IG Dr Altaf Hussian, Polyclinic Executive Director Dr Shukat Kiyani and Pims Executive Director Mehmood Jamal to discuss matters with YDA.

However, YDA has expressed complete dissatisfaction on the committee members and refused negotiations. According to them the members are powerless and demanded the inclusion of the health and finance secretaries. Polyclinic YDA President Dr Mohammad Ajmal asked how the executive directors of the hospitals can be part of the committee when they are on the list of doctors demanding a raise.

YDA also forwarded 13 demands to the Senate Standing Committee on Health.
