ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday awarded Rs100,000 to Saddar SP Hassan Iqbal for arresting a suspect involved in the murder of another police officer. Imran Saleem had been wanted by Chakwal police since September 2016 for killing a man. The suspect had subsequently gone into hiding near the outskirts of Islamabad. Believing that Saleem was hiding in a house in Jhangi Syedan’s Dhok Malyar area, a Chakwal police team supported by local police raided the location.  However, Saleem allegedly fired on the police party. As a result, ASI Akhtar Hayat of the Chakwal police was killed. Subsequently, Saleem, his father and brother, allegedly fled. However, Islamabad Police launched a manhunt for them and following a focused strategy, Saddar SP managed to apprehend the suspect from Jhangi Syedan.
