With the region reeling from hours-long load shedding, a senior official of the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) government on Tuesday said that they were trying to overcome the shortage of energy. While talking to visiting delegations in Gilgit on Tuesday, G-B Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Jafarullah Khan said that they had already hired consultants to devise feasibility reports for the 20 megawatts (MW) Hanzal Power project and 10MW hydropower project at Skarkoi. According to Radio Pakistan, Khan further said that contract to build a 16MW power project in Naltar had already been awarded to the Heavy Mechanical Complex (MHC). Once these projects are complete, he hoped that the power crisis in the region would be eliminated.
