KARACHI:
A tenth grade student was ‘burnt to death’ inside her house in Karachi late Wednesday. Family claimed the girl was murdered.

The 16-year-old girl, a resident of Block-B of Model Colony, received fatal burn injuries in a mysterious fire at the house where she lives with her aunt. She was driven to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police officials said the girl’s parents live in Larkana and she was staying at her aunt’s house in Karachi to get an education.  The aunt in her statement told the police that the girl was taking bath when the incident occurred.

Police officials said initial investigation suggested that it was not an accident and that they were trying to trace the culprit or culprits behind the incident.

Though the family refused to get her postmortem carried out, the police’s initial investigations suggested that flames that consumed the girl’s life were fueled by petrol.

No case had been registered till the filing of the report. However, IGP Allah Dino Khawaja took notice of the incident and sought a report from police officials concerned.

SP Shah Faisal Division Ali Asif said the victim’s postmortem would be conducted as it would help investigators in the case. The police have also seized the cellphone and personal diary of the girl.
