Pakistan, China: Investment avenues to be studied

Both countries agree to conduct a study on specific opportunities for Chinese investors in Pakistan.

BEIJING:

Pakistan and China have agreed to conduct a study on specific opportunities for Chinese investors in Pakistan, and have discussed expansion of cooperation in trade and financial sectors.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khan held a meeting with China Development Bank (CDB) Vice Governor Wang Yongsheng and reviewed the implementation of bilateral projects that were decided during the visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to Pakistan in December.

Yongsheng assured the ambassador of the bank’s commitment to enhance cooperation with Pakistan, and said that the focus of the bank was on implementation of projects under the five-year development programme on trade and economic cooperation as well as the agreements signed during Jiabao’s visit.

The emphasis, he said, was on projects of power, infrastructure, alternate energy and banking sectors.
