Surprise visit: Shehbaz reviews airport expansion

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to review expansion project of Allama Iqbal International Airport on his way back from Multan.

The chief minister travelled in a common coach without official protocol to review the proposed expansion project. The Civil Aviation DG gave a briefing on the project.


Shehbaz said the Punjab government had developed a greenbelt alongside the airport which enhanced the beauty of the airport and the expansion work should be carried out without damaging it. He said the option of indoor ground parking should be reviewed.

He said the beauty of the airport should be kept in mind during the expansion work. Chief secretary, commissioner Lahore and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
