FIR lodged against unknown kidnappers

Case is regarding alleged enforced disappearance of PPP co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari's friends

HYDERABAD: Jamshoro police lodged an FIR on Wednesday on the alleged enforced disappearance of Ghulam Qadir Marri, a close aide of Pakistan Peoples Party co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari. The case was registered on the complaint of Ismail Marri, his elder brother, four days after Marri's car was found abandoned on the Indus Highway near Thermal Power House.



Unknown kidnappers have been booked under sections 365/A, 384 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. Three other persons, including Khan Mohammed Mangi, Javed Rahimon and driver Mehboob Khaskheli, were also abducted along with Marri.



According to the complainant, his 70-year-old brother was returning from Larkana, where he went to attend the death anniversary commemoration of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, when he went missing on April 7.

The disappearance has drawn a strong reaction from the PPP's top cadre, with the party's rank and file staging demonstrations in Hyderabad and Tando Allahyar for his early recovery. The Marri family is based in Tando Allahyar district's Darya Khan Mari village.
