A recent list of the world's most powerful passports revealed that Germany, with a score of 159, was placed first, followed by Sweden and Singapore.

According to the Passport Index, the Indian passport was the strongest among the subcontinent countries with 48 points, followed by Sri Lanka at 38 points. Bangladesh comes next at 37 points, while Pakistan has only 27 points.

How Pakistanis can acquire a Turkish passport

In fact, the Pakistani passport is ranked the second-last in the world, only above Afghanistan with 24 points. However, despite the low ranking there are still 27 countries that Pakistanis can visit without obtaining a visa, or with visa on arrival.

Rahul | 7 years ago | Reply @Khan: It has nothing to do with economy. African countries and Iraq Syria have probably the worst economies in the world. Yet their passports are all above Pakistan. And FYI Indians are getting more and more countries to offer Visa on arrivals. Ukraine just opened up VoA facilities for Indian passport starting from 16th April. Malaysia did it last year. Papua New Guinea is under the process of clearing this faculty and should happen by the end of this year. So does South Korea. UAE just offered Indians visa on arrival for Indian passport holders with a valid US visas. Pretty soon they'll offer us visa on arrival too.

I would be more worried about India being just above Pakistan with 48 points which puts over a billion population under travel restrictions despite the fact of having such a huge economy. One can understand weak standing of green passport as we have weak economy making majority of the travelers economic burden on developed countries.

We are to believe that only one country is in a worse condition than Pakistan, while there are so many that have literally lost all kinds of territorial integrity, borders and have criminals flown in from all over the world, that are in a better state. Even people from India and Bangladesh are 'safer' to give visas too in spite of having radicals of all stripes present there. Who came up with this ranking and what could have possibly been the criteria? Really desperate to find out.

Talal Desin | 7 years ago | Reply I have family in Mozambique and Mozambique is not offering visa on arrival to Pakistan anymore. You need to apply for Visa in Dubai (they do not do visa processing in Pakistan). With visa application you need to submit invitation letter from Mozambique and processing time is 1 month.

avtar | 7 years ago | Reply Pakistanis need to put pressure on their government to change its ways and policies. Even the 27 countries are not on the top list of many tourists; and for many of these countries there no direct flights. Pakistan needs to open its doors to tourists.
