After downing two lobsters, 21 vodka oyster shots and a booze-infused baby octopus at an Australian restaurant, local man Terry Peck allegedly refused to pay for his feast and bolted off to sea – well technically the ocean.

The 33-year-old ordered a banquet worth more than AU$622 (US$465) at Omeros Brothers seafood restaurant at the Main Beach in Gold Coast, Australia on Sunday. When it was time for him to pay for the food, he ran. Literally. Down the street, to the beach, and dived into the ocean.

Peck, an amateur musician who goes by the name 2pec, was eventually caught by policemen who pursued him into the water on jet skis.

Charged with one count of stealing and two counts of serious assault, Peck was granted bail a day later by Magistrate Joan White despite opposition by the police since he was was already out on parole.

Even White was baffled when the police informed her of the AU$622. “My God! By himself?” she said, exasperated.

Peck is scheduled to appear in court again on May 4.
