Old enmity: Personal feud claims lives of man, son

Police say Rana Younis and his son Rana Javed were going home on a motorcycle when armed attackers intercepted them.

LAHORE: A man and his son were gunned down by assailants in Manga Mandi on Sunday. Police said Rana Younis and his son Rana Javed were going home on a motorcycle when armed attackers intercepted them near Talab Sarai. The assailants opened indiscriminate fire at them, killing them on the spot. Police later shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital. Investigators have collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements of some witnesses. Initial investigations suggested the victims were shot dead over an old enmity. In Manwan, 10 people were injured when two motorcycles and two rickshaws collided. Police and rescuers said the accident took place near the Saifur Rehman seminary. The victims suffered critical injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they were said to be out of danger. A police team also arrived at the spot and collected evidence for further investigation.
