RAWALPINDI: The Punjab health department along with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) has started a survey in Rawalpindi to identify weak and stunted children. The five-day survey will commence on Monday and end on Saturday, officials told Roznama Express. Lady Health Workers would go door-to-door, under the guidance of Unesco and health department officials, to assess children as per international standards of physical and mental health. The survey teams would also provide free medicines on the spot for weak children. The database of stunted children generated would be used to formulate health policies. In the meantime, based on findings of the survey, Punjab government would issue health cards to households having weak and stunted children. These cards will be used for buying food supplements and medicines from hospitals.
