The FIR was registered against PTI MNA Dr Arif Alvi, three MPAs, Samar Ali Khan, Dr Seema Zia and Khurram Sher Zaman, and others under sections 147, 149, 186, 425, 427, 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 at the Darakhshan police station.
The PTI lawmakers, local bodies' representatives and residents of Defence Housing Authority were protesting outside the CBC office for the supply of water, abolishment of a new water tax and an apology from the CBC chief.
Three more parties out on Karachi's streets in protest
In a statement, PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh condemned the registration of the case and called it tantamount to snatching the democratic right to protest over issues.
Sheikh said neither the CBC nor its officers were 'holy cows' that a protest in front of them was not allowed. He demanded action against those responsible for the water scarcity and those behind the case.
