ISLAMABAD:

National Highway and Motorway Police arrested four suspected carjackers and thieves in separate incidents and recovered four vehicles and weapons from their possession on Thursday.

The first incident occurred in Peoples Colony where car lifters snatched a Suzuki Mehran (LEA-5371) from its owner, Faisal, at gunpoint. When motorway police tried to stop the car, the driver floored the pedal and sped away. When the police gave chase, the suspects parked the car on the roadside and tried to escape on foot. Police caught one of the suspects, Javed Iqbal, while his accomplices managed to get away. After searching the vehicle, the police team recovered a tracker-jammer and a registration book with the car owner’s telephone number in it.

In another incident, the motorway police received a complaint that a white 2010 model Toyota Corolla (LEB-9249), installed with a tracker system, was snatched at gunpoint.

The car was intercepted by the motorway police using information from the tracker. They arrested Usman, Naveed and Masood, all residents of Lahore, and recovered a 30-bore pistol and bullets from their possession.

In a third incident, a motorway police patrol found an abandoned white Toyota Corolla (IDG-3614) parked near Ravi Toll Plaza. While checking the car, police found a phone number written on a piece of paper, which led to the owner of the car. The car had been stolen on Thursday from Wahdat Colony in Taxila.

In the fourth incident, police received a tip-off that led to the recovery of a white Toyota Corolla (FDK-5340) stolen from Faisalabad. A motorway police team recovered the car and managed to arrest the suspected car lifter.

General National Highway and Motorway Police Inspector General appreciated the police officials’ performances and announced cash prizes for them.
