KARACHI: The Sindh High Court appointed Akhtar Nadyme, the NED University Department of Electrical Engineering chairman, to outline a proposal for the fixation of electricity tariff for the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).

Chief Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi also allowed Nepra and KESC to determine fuel adjustment charges in bills issued to consumers with effect from April 2010 till date. This order came in petitions challenging the increase in power tariff by Nepra.

Earlier, NED University vice-chancellor was asked to nominate an expert to find out if these fuel adjustment charges are justified. On Friday, it was informed that the university nominated Nadyme. The hearing was adjourned till April 28.
