'Panamagate verdict to expose elements plundering national wealth'

PML-Q leader says, corrupt are enjoying privileges at the price of exploiting the poor

PESHAWAR: Central vice president Pakistan Muslim League-Q Ajmal Khan Wazir has hoped the Panamagate verdict would be historical and change the fate of the country.

Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Wazir said, "the result of the case would reveal the corruption of the so called elite class of the country who have been enjoying perks and privileges for several decades at the behest of the poor citizens' hard-earned money."

Expressing his views on the merger of Federally Administrated Tribal Area (FATA) with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the politician said leaders who always stood with the government are now opposing the decision.



Wazir stressed that a proper mechanism to merge Fata with K-P would help the tribal areas rid themselves of the draconian Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) law, imposed over them for almost a century. People of the tribal agencies have been suffering due to lack of education, health and other facilities in their areas.

"They do not have basic human right; there is no employment in Fata and people are forced to live miserable lives," he added.

The PML-Q leader also called upon the federal government to provide Fata's share as per the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and avoid diverting it to other provinces.

The federal cabinet on March 2 of this year approved in principle recommendations of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) reforms committee, which includes the merger of the tribal areas with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and repeal of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR).
