KARACHI: Eight people were killed in Karachi in incidents of target killing between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Unidentified people killed a man in the Korangi area, while another person was killed in Landhi.

A person identified as Mumtaz Adnan was also shot dead near the Karimabad flyover.

Three people were murdered in Landhi Radio Ground, Dadu Chaurangi and Asif Square areas respectively.

A body was also found near the Kharadar Police Station.

At least 18 people have been killed in the city during the last 24 hours.

Police and Rangers have not been able to curb violence in the city as the death toll continues to climb.

In an earlier report in The Express Tribune, Sindh police’s Crime Investigation Department said it has arrested three alleged target killers. They were identified as Rao Muhammad alias Grenade, Nadeem Khan alias Rickshaw and Babar Ali.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Karachi Saud Ahmed Mirza said these men belonged to the Mudasir Langra alias Mudasir chief group. They were hired killers, however, the police could not say who had paid them. They confessed to have killed 30 people in Karachi.

Hassan Naqvi | 13 years ago | Reply Why no one is paying attention on such killings, it seems like the ruling personalities don't consider it an issue to consider. They're more concerned about 18th amendment or Supreme judicial council, what a shame. Where is Chief Justice of Pakistan, these days. He is nowhere in the picture either in this case and R. Davis case. Why we suffered so much for him ?
Salman Orangiwala | 13 years ago | Reply People from the troubled area where most of the target killings are taking places , complain that Police and Rangers just vanish whenever firing occurs . The reason is that the Police and Rangers in Karachi are all outsiders , the former imported from Interior Sindh the latter from Punjab , donot have any stake in this city other than bribes and Water Supply contract ( Rangers ) None of theor friend /family members are afftected , so why jeopardize their "precious " lives . Karachi needs community based police , The only solution .
