SC dismayed over govt inaction on missing persons

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) expressed dismay on Monday over government measures in the light of the Foreign Ministry's report on the missing persons’ case.

The report stated that 425 Pakistanis have been detained in Malaysia, 145 in Afghanistan and another 200 have been confined in Thailand. Heading the bench, Justice Javed Iqbal said it is the government's responsibility to take care of Pakistanis in foreign countries.

Meanwhile, Additional Attorney General KK Agha informed the court regarding the recently formed ‘Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances’ which is working for the recovery of the missing persons.

The next hearing has been adjourned till May 20, when the Interior secretary, Finance secretary, and secretary of Foreign Affairs have been directed to appear in Court.

Honorable supreme of Pakistan ordered the government to constituted a committee who investigate the matter regarding the persons in jail abroad.and report to the court within the time described in the order. Supreme court of Pakistan, under the leadership the chief justice has taken worth-seeing decisions but this one is very admirable. It is wrong to say, our present and previous government drew attention on this matter,every one know that what Musharraf had done in this regard,he showed carelessness and handed over Pakistani to abroad and made happy his masters, when the question of missing person was raised by the honorable apex court huge water has passed under the bridge. Helpless has become their fate,they are sick, too weak to walk,dying without treatment and medicines,there is no way to contact their relatives,they are praying to Allah Almighty for help, at last God heard them and in the meanwhile Supreme of Pakistan took the notice about them. Now will hope,the committee that has been constituted will approached them and settling the issue brin them back.

Some were killed by secret police encounter, still hidden not expose, as reported by print and electronic media. Talban kidnapped more and more, some of them released, due mounting pressure, by internal and external powers, men exchanged with those were under the custody of Pakistan and Afghanistan, Beheading is other matter. As published detail by the Express Tribune a huge number of Pakistani are different jails in abroad,internet media is screaming time and again. But court ruling has its own place,court order can not be disregard,it must be implemented. Government must adopt different options and find out missing person with tireless efforts and on any cost.
