Anti-encroachment drive in Galiyat

The drive was launched following a Peshawar High Court verdict against illegal cabins

ABBOTTABAD: The Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) has decided to start anti encroachment drive in Galiyat and take strict action against encroachers. “Following the Peshawar High Court (PHC) verdict against illegal cabins in Galiyat, we will demolish them according to the bylaws and will take action against the owners accordingly,” GDA Director Inayatullah Waseem said during the recent meeting of the authority. He further said that the kiosks of people who cooperate during the drive would be regularised as per legal framework. Waseem said that illegal construction and encroachment was also destroying the environment – the main attraction for tourists who come to the area and support its economy. GDA director said that in the coming season tourists would see a positive change in Galiyat. Provincial government was committed to making Galiyat beautiful and to provide facilities to the tourists, improvement of infrastructure and creating more attractions for tourists.
