Foreign teams participate alongside Pakistan Army in PATS competition

The teams are being tested for their physical fitness, endurance and team spirit, ISPR says

The second Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) competition is underway near Jhelum with participation from 10 countries, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

Teams from China, Indonesia, Jordon, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Srilanka, Turkey, Thailand and UK along with eight Pakistan Army teams are participating in the event, the statement added.

It said foreign teams will be tested on the second day of the competition for their physical fitness, endurance and team spirit.

PATS is a narrative-based competition held under very challenging environment. A patrol from every participating team is tasked to infiltrate in terrorist infested area, carry out a task and exfiltrate.



The competition, aimed at testing survival skills and physical endurance, is spread over 72 hours and include 23 field events, focusing on counterterrorism operations. The last competition was won by Mangla Corps.

On Friday, Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi near Mangla and met members of foreign military teams participating in the event.

He said Pakistan has successfully neutralised malicious propaganda against it and "elements trying to isolate Pakistan must now see how it (Pakistan) is actually valued and honoured by its friends" the world over.
