Justice served: Man gets 10 years for child rape
The suspect, identified as Sajid, was accused of raping a 15-year-old
ISLAMABAD:
A trial court has sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Kamran Basharat Mufti also levied a Rs0.1 million fine. The convict will undergo additional three months imprisonment failing to pay the fine.
The suspect, identified as Sajid, was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl* of a poor family living in Merabadi in sector G-12 on October 15, 2014.
Imtiaz Ahmad Somra, counsel for the victim, told The Express Tribune that the victim’s statement before a magistrate and her initial medical examination were the incriminating evidence against the accused. He said Sahil, an NGO working against child sexual abuse, provided counseling and free legal aid to the victim.
