RAWALPINDI: Saddar Wah Police booked a man for allegedly torturing his wife Asmia Shaheen, to death on Friday.

According to the victim’s mother, Hameeda, her son in law Sohail Akhtar and his second wife were adamant that Asmia leave their house. When she resisted, the couple together beat her to death and later tried to pass it off as suicide.

The victim had two daughters, one of whom, Hameeda claimed, was witness to the murder. Police have filed a case against Sohail and his second wife, and further investigation is underway.

Separately, a speeding dumper crushed a biker to death and left the other seriously injured in the remits of Wah Cantt police.

Mustafa Kamal told the police that his father Aziz Ahmed and uncle Zakir Ahmed were going on their motorbike when an unidentified dumper driver hit them. Aziz died in the collision while Zakir was left seriously injured. Police have registered a case and investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, across the city, three people have been reportedly kidnapped. According to police, Aijaz Ahmed told the Pir Wadhai police that Haseeb, Javed and some other men have kidnapped his 23-year-old daughter. Within the RA Bazaar police jurisdiction, a woman told the police that her husband went to work and has not come back since. She suspects that he has been kidnapped. Moreover, a college student, Shah Zeb, was kidnapped from a bus stop in the Pir Wadhai police remits.
