Army chief pins ranks on new colonel commandant of Azad Kashmir Regiment

The installation ceremony of Colonel Commandant Azad Kashmir (AK) Regiment was held at Mansar Camp on Wednesday with Army chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa as the chief guest.

General Bajwa and outgoing colonel of the regiment, Lt Gen Ashfaq Nadeem Ahmad, pinned the badges of the rank on Lieutenant General Hidayatur Rehman to install him as colonel commandant of the AK Regiment,  Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Speaking at the occasion, the army chief acknowledged the contributions of AK Regiment towards the defence of the country and paid homage to 3,842 martyrs who laid their lives while on duty in the regiment.

He also thanked the outgoing colonel commandant for his meritorious services during his tenure.

Commander southern command oversees census exercise in Quetta

Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz on Wednesday visited different areas of Quetta city to oversee the census exercise, ISPR said in a statement.

Lt Gen Riaz was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the census in the city following which he talked to the citizens and emphasised on the importance of the ongoing exercise. He reiterated the resolve of ensuring unbiased conduct of census for which all efforts by civil–military staff are being taken, the military’s media wing added.
