Local police arrested a suspicious man dressed as comic book superhero Batman's arch-nemesis The Joker in Virginia last week, according to the Winchester Police.

The man who took cosplay a bit too seriously was wearing a cape as well as carrying a sword with him.

Local police received several calls that the man was walking along the Papermill Road and South.

Subsequently, he was taken into police custody. He has been identified as Jerry Putman, 31, who is charged with wearing a mask in public and is being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.

Putman could receive a sentence of up to five years in jail for the felony charge.

Police received several similar reports over the last week, however, security agencies believe there are no additional suspects.
