Basic health centres: CM orders 24-hour ultrasound service

CM gives approval to purchase ultrasound machines for basic health centres across the province.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered all basic health centres in the province to provide 24-hour ultrasound facility and appoint new female staff to facilitate people. While presiding over a three-hour-long meeting to review health care facilities in Punjab, the CM gave the approval to purchase ultrasound machines for basic health centres across the province. He said ultrasound machines would be provided to basic health centres and lady health visitors would be given adequate training. “With the provision of ultrasound machines, medical facilities will be improved at the centres,” he added. The chief minister said it was the right of common man to have quality medical facilities at hospitals. “Punjab government is investing billions of rupees to improve the health care system so that quality medical facilities are provided to the people,” he added. Shehbaz also called for giving a final shape to the plan for setting up of hepatitis filter clinics in other cities so that this important programme could be initiated as soon as possible.
