QUETTA: Miscreants based abroad are trying to spread chaos in Balochistan, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan warned on Saturday.

"Thanks to the efforts of security forces, however, the enemy's nefarious designs have been foiled and peace has been restored in Balochistan," the minister said while addressing the 60th passing-out parade of Frontier Corps Balochistan. He added that the day when terrorism will be completely eradicated from the country was not far.

"Certain elements cannot bear to see peace in Balochistan and Pakistan," Nisar said. He added that these elements, who themselves were living luxurious lives in foreign countries after receiving funds from Pakistan's enemies, were using the people of Balochistan as sacrificial pawns.

"The enemies of Pakistan do not want our people and children to live peacefully," he said. The minister also warned that some elements were trying to spread unrest in the name of religion.  “Islam is a religion of peace and almighty Allah does not like disharmony,” he added.

“Some people don’t want the people of Balochistan to get educated. The don't want the lives of the poor to improve and they don't desire peace in this region."

Number of blasts in Pakistan have declined since 2013, says Chaudhry Nisar

Despite these conspiracies, security forces had succeed in restoring peace in Balochistan and Pakistan, Nisar said. "The sacrifices rendered by our security forces have helped establish peace in the province,” he said.

Nisar said work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was in full swing, adding the province would soon witness significant progress through the multibillion dollar project. He said an extra amount of Rs70 billion over the allotted budget had been spent on the country’s security. “The day is not far when terrorism will be completely eradicated from the country.”

Congratulating the graduating cadets, Nisar said: “It is time to express gratitude towards almighty Allah as you are going to join practical life, which is a moment of happiness for you and your families.” He told them that the uniform which they were putting on was not an ordinary uniform but represented the blood and sacrifices of the martyrs.

Nisar said that since he had assumed charge of the interior ministry, he always advised security personnel to tread Baloch people with respect. He said he would request the prime minister to grant more funding to FC Balochistan, adding that the paramilitary force should continue to play its role as victory was not far ahead. “This region is very dear to the people of Pakistan and this will turn into a region of development.”

Earlier, Inspector General (IG) FC Maj-Gen Nadeem Anjum briefed the minister about the activities and performance of the FC, saying the force was taking part in social welfare works along with maintaining peace in the region The IG said 65,000 patients were provided medical treatment free of cost by the FC, besides taking part in education, health and social service delivery.
