“Raymond Davis is not the most important issue in the country. People need to realise that continuing to agitate the issue will do them no good,” Muhammad Anas, the Goonj Theatre Group spokesperson, said on Tuesday.
Earlier, the group had organised a roadside theatre show called Bhagtay Davis ki Langoti Hi Sahi at Jain Mandir Chowk on Lytton Road that according to the organisers aimed at spreading awareness among the people about the issue in the case.
Anas said that the politicians who had provoked people to take to the streets were ignoring the real problems of the people.
“It’s unfortunate how people do not realise the importance of the issues faced by the country.
There is inflation, power and gas shortage, water issues, unemployment and so much more,” he said.
Ali Akbar, one of the organisers, said that after Faizan’s and Faheem’s families had pardoned Davis, there was no point in people protesting against the release.
Through the play, he said, the group wanted to tell people that the matter was over and nothing could be done about it any longer.
He said the group wanted the people to stop wasting their time by leaving their homes and doing whatever selfish politicians told recommended. He said the country was heading towards anarchy and not a revolution. People, he said, were being exploited.
