Stephen Hawking has shared with the world that he is going to space soon, The Independent reported.

"Richard Branson has offered me a seat on Virgin Galactic, and I said yes immediately," the cosmologist and physicist said in an interview.

Virgin Galactic, Branson’s spaceflight company, aims to carry people into space soon and Hawking will be one of them. Earlier, the company had suggested launching the flight in 2009 but the plan was cancelled because of certain disasters.

Hawking seems hopeful about going into space and said that his "three children have brought me great joy - and I can tell you what will make me happy, to travel in space".

Treading on other subjects, the scientist discussed US President Donald Trump and termed him a ‘demagogue’ under whose presidency he fears he will never be welcome in the United States. "His priority will be to satisfy his electorate who are neither liberal nor that well-informed," he said.

He also lamented that since UK Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has allowed people to call himself a left-wing extremist, he will never be able to win the elections. However, Hawking said he will keep supporting the party.

The cosmologist also went on to shed light on Brexit and said politicians should ensure that there were links with the rest of Europe as without it “Britain’s status as a world-leader in science and innovation" would be threatened.
