Anti-polio campaign: Drive targets areas along CPEC route in Hazara

ABBOTTABAD: A four-day polio vaccination campaign began in four districts of Hazara division on Monday, health sources said.

According to Abbottabad District Health Officer Dr Qasim, the campaign is focusing primarily on areas located along the Karakoram Highway – the main trunk for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the region. He, however, did not share the reasons why specific union council, located in Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Battagram, were being targeted by immunisers.

Dr Qasim added that for Abbottabad district, a total of 249 teams of vaccinators had been constituted of which 205 were mobile teams, while 29 would administer polio vaccine to children at fixed points.

He added that they
were targeting Jhangi, Salhad, city, Kehal urban, Malik Pura, Kakul, Sheikhul Bandi, Mirpur, Baldheri, Banda Pir Khan, three wards of the Abbottabad Cantonment Board, Havelian city and the cantonment in Havelian were being targeted in the four-day campaign.
