Karachi school wins big at Harvard MUN

Over 2,000 high school students from various countries across the world participated at HMUN China

The Karachi Grammar School (KGS) won best small delegation award at Harvard Model United Nations China 2017.

HMUN China was held from March 16 to March 19 in Beijing.

The delegation consisted of 14 people -- Sabriyah Chatoor who was head delegate, Aamer Jooma, Hussain Bakshi, Taha Ahmed, Sabrina Sadat, Maryam Majeed Agloria, Vijdan Tahir, Aliza Ayaz, Faisal Nadeem, Maaz Agha, Aarish Ali Shah, Muzzamil Godil andMaryam Sajjad.

They were accompanied by faculty adviser Aysha Sheikh who led the team with great vigour and constant support.


Speaking to The Express Tribune, the team's faculty adviser said, "This victory would not have been possible without their dedication to the competition. We are proud to bring home laurels not just for the school, but for Pakistan - it is an exhilarating feeling when we wave the green flag high on foreign ground."

Over 2,000 high school students from various countries, including India, Singapore, Brazil, and the USA, participated at HMUN China.

The KGS team competed in eight different committees and 13 members of the 14-member team secured awards. KGS won 3 Best Delegate,7 Outstanding Delegate and 3 Honourable Mention awards and thus secured the Best Small Delegation award.

KGS has won HMUN China all four times that it has participated.

Last year, KGS won the Best International Delegation Award at HMUN Boston. Prior to this, the team won various local MUN competitions including BAYMUN and MUNIK.
