K-P govt to launch Sehat Sahulat Programme in all districts

The government aims to extend the project to all other districts by May 2017

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has expanded its Sehat Sahulat social health protection pilot project from Mardan, Malakand, Chitral, and Kohat to now include another 21 districts.

The scheme allows people to receive free medical treatment in private and public hospitals.

Despite the project still being in its initial stages in some districts due to delays in data collection, the government has gone ahead with extending the project to other districts by May 2017.

According to an official statement issued by the health ministry, the districts where the project will be launched include Shangla, Swat, Buner, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Tank.

A total of 312,248 people in Swat, Buner and Shangla, and 290,000 people in DI Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Karak will benefit from the scheme, the statement adds.

Considering the influx of patients, an official notification from the health department has also directed that three medical officers, a dental surgeon, and a female medical officer be present at rural health centre round the clock and has opened an additional 2,511 positions for medical and dental staff across the province.

israr | 7 years ago | Reply Excellent fair reporting and the inside story weldone to OUR CORRESPONDENTS fabulus this is what we expect of tribune ... i think its very nice step with 95% doctors now available and hospitals and health care units are look in best shape over last 30 years i am very hopeful that people of south and north districts will be benefited also i hope atleast 2 in south and 1 each in north east, north central and north west of province hospitals (5 in all) are upgraded to become as good as 500 beds hospitals i still have no news on kohistan brand new hospital so sharam must look into this as well.. once again excellent reporting :)
