Police said the deceased, identified as Farman, was out on bail and was going to attend a court hearing with his relative Aqeel. When they reached Chandrai Pind, unidentified suspects intercepted them and opened indiscriminate firing at them before fleeing the scene.
Farman, Aqeel and two roadside vendors, Boota Muhammad Din and Iqbal Muhammad Din, suffered bullet injuries and were rushed to the Lahore General Hospital, where doctors pronounced Farman and Boota dead on arrival. The condition of Iqbal was said to be critical as well.
Later, families of the deceased placed the bodies on Ferozpur Road to stage a protest against the increasing lawlessness in Lahore and demanded justice. They ended their protest after negotiations with senior police officials.
