PARACHINAR: At least two tribesmen were killed and four others were injured on Saturday when militants attacked a convoy of a jirga in the Takhto village of Central Kurram Agency.

The jirga was being held to settle boundaries between the Musazai and Chamkani tribes and the unidentified assailants attacked the tribesmen when they were travelling back to their homes after the Jirga had ended, an eyewitness told The Express Tribune.

The gunmen were waiting for the convoy of tribesmen to pass at a nearby road and opened fire on the vehicles once they approached the road. The attack resulted in the deaths of Malik Khial Ali Sherzai and Malik Arbab Khuni Khel.

The political administration termed the incident as an attempt by militants to provoke the tribesmen.
