LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a special package for taking care of families of martyrs of police on the instructions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“The wellbeing of the families of our police martyrs is our responsibility, and this will be fulfilled at every cost,” said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday while addressing the ceremony held at the Central Police Office after the inauguration of different steps adopted through a digital system in Punjab police.

“This package does not substitute the great sacrifices rendered by the martyrs and it has no value when compared with their great sacrifices. But it is a right of the heirs of the martyrs to live everyday life amicably,” he added.

A development budget of Rs100 billion has been given to the police during the past 8.5 years while increase in pay and other perks is in addition to it.

Shehbaz also directed the chief secretary to digitalise the record of administrative officers.
